Brief Historical Description of the Bartolini
Baldelli family
The
family of the Marquises Bartolini Baldelli, features back
to 1080 in the city of Cortona, close to Arezzo, and became
Florentine only in 1559. The most flourishing period of the family
starts, as a matter of fact, around the second half of the 16th
century thanks to Francesco Bartolini Baldelli, secretary of the
Grand Dukr of Tuscany Cosimo II.
The Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopoldo II di Lorena conferred the Marquis
title on Bartolommeo Bartolini Baldelli in 1857, his counsellor,
who, among other tasks, was the organiser of the court life of the
Grand Duke's family, choosing furniture, servants, organising parties
and banquets. It was Bartolommeo who wanted to purchase the Fattoria
di Bagnolo, due to its closeness to Florence and the beauty of the
Villa from the 16th century, which had belonged to the Machiavelli
family, among others.
Today the Bartolini Baldelli family runs directly the 3 farms,
the Fattoria di Bagnolo, the Fattoria di Scaletta and the Fattoria
Castello di Montozzi, respecting the traditions but above all trying
to enhance the quality of the products, the farm-houses and the
houses.
The restoration of the three businesses, begun by the Marquis Doctor
Luigi Bartolini Baldelli with his wife Maria Marrucchi , has been
continued by his son Marco, with the help of the father and the
whole family. Today together with the agriculture the family has
also opened its abandoned cottages for guests who want to spend
their holiday on a farm. The restoration has permitted to underscore
the Tuscan history and tradition in the cottages (wooden beam ceilings,
terracotta floor, fireplaces etc. ), not to mention the rustic furnishing.
